In 1991 Václav and Helena Mejvald have opened an art work (paintings, ceramics, graphics, small sculptures, jewellery) shop in their house. An exhibition room has been established in other house premises in 1994, there have nearly 60 exhibitions of great or less known artists taken place since then. For example painters such as Vladimír Komárek, Josef Jíra, Adolf Born, Oldřich Oplt, Jiří Šindler, Jan Kristofori, Vladimír Renčín, Václav Blecha and Jan Kanyza, sculptors Olbram Zoubek and Bořek Zeman, ceramists Vladimír Uhlík, Jiří Ambrozek, Jiří Dudycha and Blažena Fořtová and artists from other fields: Karel Hník and Miroslav Martinovský - photography, Rudolf Mejsnar - Gobelin tapestry and Luděk Tichý - woodcutting. In 1996 - 2000 there were regular exhibitions of painters and sculptors of French art school of Mandray. It is 10th anniversary of the gallery opening this year and even though it is a private gallery it has become an integral part of a cultural and social life in Vrchlabí.
